Invisalign, a Clear Alternative to braces.

Invisalign is a virtually invisible solution so you can smile during as well as after treatment. In fact, virtually no one will know you’re wearing them unless you tell. By using a series of clear, removable aligners, Invisalign straightens your teeth right before your eyes. Change them about every two weeks and your teeth will move – little by little – toward the smile you have always wanted.

Modern Teeth Straightening

Invisalign technology is one of the greatest improvements in teeth alignment since the first techniques were thought to be used almost 290 years ago. Instead of using wires and metal brackets to push and pull teeth into place, the Invisalign system uses clear, smooth plastic aligners that guide teeth into preset positions.

Through a series of different aligners, your teeth with gradually move into an optimal position that takes functionality and beauty into consideration. The best part is the aligners are almost invisible, which allows the patient to wear them with confidence while their teeth are being aligned. Another huge benefit to wearing Invisaligns is the ability to eat the same foods as before, and also be able to floss and brush your teeth normally.

The 3D Image

Once you decide that Invisalign is right for you, your doctor will begin the initial steps to create your clear aligners. First, a 3-D image of your teeth is generated from combining teeth impressions, x-rays, and pictures. This image is used as a tool to plan the adjustments needed to align your teeth, as well as show you what they will look like when the treatment is finished. Custom made aligners can then be created based on this information.

Your treatment plan

Once you get your aligners in, all you have to do is simply snap them into place. The virtually invisible plastic aligners fit snuggly around your teeth, but fit comfortably. The PBA-free plastic is smooth around the edges and will not agitate or injure your gums like metal braces can do. You wear them most of the time, except when eating or cleaning your teeth and gums. About every two weeks, you will change out your previous aligner for a new one, which will fit more snuggly as you progress to the next stage of alignment. Every six weeks, you will visit your doctor for a check-up. These visits will be an exciting time for you as you get to view your progress towards an amazing smile. The treatment for adults will take around a year to complete, but every case is unique and customized to the needs of your teeth.
